Boudoir: female interior
The word “boudoir” has come from the French language. It meant a ladies’ sitting room or a room before a bedroom, where the woman could be engaged in cosmetic procedures or welcome visitors. Certainly, at that time such smart apartments were presumed only by rich ladies, but now you can arrange your own world, having managed much more modest means. So, what shall we start with?
Arrangement
Define a place, which you would allocate under the private use. Most likely it will be a bedroom. The classical boudoir interior, as a rule, is arranged in French style (for example a rococo), but you can choose furniture and accessories, following your taste. East motives will be also actual. As a whole it is desirable to make design in light, gentle tones.
Toilet table
The toilet table or pier glass is necessary for you. Without them the boudoir has no right to be called as that. Small table on the bent wooden legs in retro style, probably, even slightly made old will look ideal. It will become the main element of your boudoir and its main accent.
Recamier
Couch-recamier, named in honor of the brilliant mistress of Parisian salon, will help to create necessary atmosphere. It can be a bench with legs, covered with velvet and decorated with small pillows. The tiny coffee table, where it will be convenient to put a coffee cup, will be also required. If there is not enough place it is possible to replace a couch with soft padded stools.
Screen
Mysteriousness to a ladies’ corner will be provided with textile screen. Besides, it is very convenient, when it is necessary to separate intimate zone from the general space.
Light
Light plays important role in general atmosphere. On one hand, during rest it would be desirable to use soft, diffused light, but on another - good fixture for make-up drawing is required. For a boudoir the wall sconce or a floor lamp with a satiny lamp shade will approach. And it is better to place additional illumination above the mirror.
